Meet Ivan, our Master Grinder extraordinaire. Ivan honed his knife-sharpening skills during a summer internship at the prestigious Wusthof knife factory in Solingen, Germany, at the ripe age of eighteen back in 1968. Fast forward through many moons and countries, and Ivan has made his home in NYC. While running an ornamental steel shop and keeping friends' and family's knives razor-sharp, he decided to share his expertise with the public.

Ivan has generously passed his knowledge down to his son and trained three eager apprentices hungry to master this once-dying art—a skill that's making a remarkable comeback in recent years.
